In a disaster, being able to communicate may save a life. Disasters also tend to knock out power and overload cell towers. A whistle is a cheap and easy thing to keep handy if you need to signal for help. In our neighborhood, we use FRS radios (walkie-talkies) which are relatively inexpensive and have a pretty good range.
Find out about how we use FRS radios in our neighborhood. In July of 2020 we held a radio drill – because it was the safest kind of drill we could have during a pandemic. You can read a bit about it on our home page. Also, if you;re intersted in learning more about radios, we have an upcoming Zoom workshop on August 4 at 7pm.
