CERT Classes starting January 2016

CERT LogoThe Community Emergency Response Team Program’s concept was developed and implemented by the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) in 1985. The CERT course will benefit any citizen who takes it. This individual will be better prepared to respond to and cope with the aftermath of a disaster.

1/4 – Silverlake – Evenings – 7 Mondays 6:30 -9 pm

1/6 – Hermon – Evenings – 7 Wednesdays 7:00 -9:30 pm

El Nino Preparations

The National Weather Service is predicting a “godzilla” El Niño weather pattern of storms this winter.  Fire Station 44 will be supplying free sandbags and sand. 1410 Cypress Avenue in Cypress Park – 213-485-6244. Call first – they already ran out of sand once! Also check the city’s El Nino site for other preparedness info: elninola.com. And if you see clogged storm drains/catch basins, you can report it with the address or intersection to the Sanitation Dept. – call 311 or direct dial 213-485-5392.
