Come celebrate our wonderful neighborhood with a potluck dinner in the park. MWJN will get the party started with tables, chairs, plates, plastic-ware and music (our own One Shot DJs ). You provide the rest!

Please bring a shareable dish and beverages (alcohol is not allowed but we are not checking coffee cups)

Feel like helping us decorate tables? We love it! Bring your ideas and come early!

This is a shine only event – but no rain in the forecast!
It should be a lovely WARM evening – bring your sunscreen, hats, insect repellent etc.
No restrooms so please plan accordingly
Parking is limited – we encourage everyone to walk

Jessica Triangle Weedathon 3/26

Join us Sunday, March 26, from 9am – 11am to help pull weeds and beautify our little pocket park.

Jessica Triangle is the landmark at the intersection of Jessica Drive and Cleland Avenue. Beginning in the late 90′s, local residents helped transform the triangle from a litter-strewn patch of asphalt to a beautifully landscaped drought-tolerant pocket park. Please consider donating 30 minutes of your time or $10 from your pocket. Walk-by and drive-by cash donations accepted, or online at mtwashingtonjessica.org.

Jessica Triangle Work Party – 10/5

This Saturday, November 5, from 9am – 11am is the semi-annual Jessica Triangle garden clean up and fundraising.

The Triangle was created and is maintained by neighbors in this area. Please come out to trim some dead branches (no weeds this time of year) and dig some trenches in case we get rain this year. (You can always cross your fingers about the latter.)

If you can’t join us for 30 minutes between 9-11am, please donate $10 at mtwashingtonjessica.org. Walk by and drive by cash donations accepted as well. Thanks so much!

CERT Community Meeting – Map Your Neighborhood 2/9

Disaster Preparedness Community Meeting on Tuesday, Feb 9th, from 7pm – 8:30pm

During the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Community Meeting we’ll discuss Map Your Neighborhood (MYN).

MYN is a step-by-step process designed to help neighborhoods prepare for disasters and to know what to do immediately following one. Neighbors learn to work together as a team to evaluate their neighborhood following a disaster and to take action to mitigate risks that could require a 911 call if left unchecked. This program embraces all neighbors, CERT and non-CERT, and fits nicely into the 5 Steps.la Program.

CERT Battalion 2 has embraced the Map Your Neighborhood paradigm based in part on the success of the program in the Mt. Washington Jessica Neighborhood. Come to the meeting and see how your immediate neighbors have influenced the larger plans of LA preparedness.

There are already six MYN Block Teams in the battalion and we plan on many more.

Afterwards, ask questions about disaster preparedness and talk to other community members about emergency plans in our neighborhood.
