Wildlife!

Stuffed coyote at ASNC wildlife presentationOn December 1, 2015 a public symposium was conducted by Hoang Dinh of LA Animal Services and volunteers from CA Dept. of Fish and Wildlife.  The event focused on co-existing with coyotes and emphasized the importance of not feeding (even fallen fruit can attract them)  and “hazing” to keep them naturally afraid of humans.  The event was sponsored by the Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council Public Safety Committee.

CERT Classes starting January 2016

CERT LogoThe Community Emergency Response Team Program’s concept was developed and implemented by the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) in 1985. The CERT course will benefit any citizen who takes it. This individual will be better prepared to respond to and cope with the aftermath of a disaster.

1/4 – Silverlake – Evenings – 7 Mondays 6:30 -9 pm

1/6 – Hermon – Evenings – 7 Wednesdays 7:00 -9:30 pm

7/7 – Hollywood/Wilshire – Evenings – 7 Tuesdays 6:30 -9 pm

7/8 – Downtown LA – Daytime – 7 Wednesdays  1 – 3:30 pm

7/9 – Civic Center – Daytime – 7 Thursdays 9 – 11:30 am

7/10 – East LA – Daytime – 7 Fridays 9 – 11:30 am

7/21 – Downtown LA – Daytime – 7 Tuesdays 9 – 11:30  am

CERT Class at Mt. Washington School begins 3/3

A daytime CERT class is being offered in 2015 at Mt. Washington Elementary School. The class meets on Tuesdays beginning March 3rd and ends April 21st, with no class on March 31st. The class is from 8:30 -11:00 am.
